Beyond Insanity
I saw the movie Beyond Borders last night. The new one with Angelina Jolie with the saving the starving people in 3rd world countries do dah? It’s hard to describe, I mean, I thought it was well-done, but [Chandler Bing]could there be a worse ending?[/Chandler Bing]. Yack. I mean, it’s depressing.
Honestly, it would have been a great movie if there was even an indication of her still being alive, hell, even with a freaking prosthetic leg at the end (which I saw as a HUGE anvil when that guy showed his leg and talked about the land mines earlier in the movie)! But dead? That’s so fucking stupid. They still could have shown the suffering without the death! I sort of saw it coming, but I thought Nick would be the one to die. So I said to Colleen that if one or both of them die I would sob for 2 days. I didn’t think I’d actually be right. Anyway, I choose to believe that she ISN’T dead, because did we see her die? See her dead body? No. She could be on the stairs of the house for God’s sake. Eh. This is how I deal with things I don’t like – I change them to make me happy! I’m lame, I know. What’s terrible is the fact that they haven’t even had a lot of time to BE together. Ugh. I just hated, hated the ending. As soon as the credits came up, I actually said (rather loudly) “Oh, she’s still alive”. Totally pissed me, well all of us, off.
Also, I think Angelina Jolie is creepy. Not to mention, her lips are Distracting with a capital D. Every time I see her face, it takes all of my attention to not look at them. And it looks like she purses them all of the time — erh. Annoying. The guy who plays Nick, Clive Owen? Is my new boyfriend. He was FABulous. The critics are blasting the movie because it focused too much on the love story, but seriously, this isn’t a War Relief or UNICEF documentary. It’s a movie with CHARACTERS, therefore, we have to see what their lives are like. Argh.
So, in sum, I don’t recommend it, but I sorta do at the same time.
Mardi Gras for downtown is next weekend (yes, yes, I know it’s not the REAL Mardi Gras at this time of the year, but that’s what we call it). Which always coincides with Halloween, with always coincides, of course, with costumes. My friends all wanted to go as the cast of Gilligan’s Island. Which is fine with me. But by the time they told ME about it, the only two character’s left were the Professer and Mr. Howell. Yeah, no thank you. So my costume will likely be something different than theirs — like a butterfly :butterfly:, or a Naughty Catholic Schoolgirl (if I can find one of my old skirts). Heh. Whatev.
Saw a pic of the X-Files Season 8 DVD set today. Snerk. I’m debating whether or not to buy it. I’ve never seen some of those episodes (and I NEVER intend to. Jesus!Slugs anyone? No thanks) or seen some that I never WANT to see again (Genies that crawl out of people’s asses anyone? No thanks), but it would be nice having Existence on DVD. Hmm. See, if it goes cheaper than normal because of less anticipated sales (ha) which already seems to be happening, I won’t feel guilty about spending money on DVD’s I’ll never watch.
And you know, I line my XF box sets on my little shelf, there’s a pattern if you line them up the same way, you know? On the side, each year, either M or S are featured. Like first it goes Scully, then Mulder, then Scully and so on. So it drives me batty that stupid Doggett is on it now, so he’ll screw it up. Yes, I’m anal. So sue me. Just call me Anal Amy — oh, wait. Don’t. Because that sounds like a really bad porn movie.
Oh Lizzy. Am I going to have to take away your smilie privileges? 
And actually, I don’t miss DC. I’ve only started rewatching it after the finale this year and syndication started *shrugs* I need some tv to fill my very not tv filled life. But I DO love my ships. That I don’t deny. And I know now that every couple (aside from Mulder and Scully) that I like, I know that you like the exact opposite. LOL.
Well Kate, I always try to support my Canadian musicians as much as I can! I do lurve “Heaven” – it’s one of my all time, top fave songs.[edit] Just to clarify, I had a “but” in there where it shouldn’t and it make it sound like Bryan Adams isn’t Canadian – but he is! Some Canucks I take no pride in, like Avril Lavigne, or Pamela Lee or Tom Green, so they can give up their citzenship because it doesn’t really bother me [/edit] And why haven’t you started watching CSI, huh? :D. Kidding, I’m kidding.

Anyhow, I know that I will probably not be buying S8 on DVD unless I can find it uber-cheap. I’d be willing to spend $20 on it. Maybe. But I’d still want to save my money for S1-7 first. By that time, maybe hordes of True-Philes would have collected all the S8 >) DVD’s (not the set, but just the >) – >) -ultra >) ones) and melted them into a pile of goo. And perhaps they could shape the goo into a Doggett tombstone?? =shrugs= Just a suggestion ….

I watched CSI! I did, really! It was for about two minutes and Sara was getting stuck into Catherine. Telling her to do her job properly! Woot! LOL I like Sara, I do, I just havent seen this Grissom/Sara thing yet. And I do see what you mean with the huge focus on Catherine’s life. I watched an ep a few weeks ago about a guy who everyone thought was sleeping with his daughter.. it turned out she was just fantasized about him and killed her mother over it… anyway my point is, Miss I’m a Former Striper with an ex-husband and kid was going on something shocking. She was accusing this poor guy before she had all the facts just because she’d been through something similiar, I think. I dunno, I kinda tuned out when she opened her mouth
BUT! I’ve also seen the “I used to be a stripper so I know what its like” moments. Can someone gag her? PLEASE??
I cant believe the S8 Dvd’s have Dogs-breath on them. ICK! I dont even have S7 yet and I’d probably only get S8 to add to the collection. They’d never get watched. Unless one of the writers or CC himself gave commentary on an ep and gave a good reason for how/why they f*cked up the rest of the XF.
BTW, arent you supporting your fellow Canadians by listening to Bryan?? LOL Was I mislead about his birth place? *Gasp* Is he not a Canadian? You know, by being Canadian that automaticaly makes him Aussie. We’re all part of the same commonwealth

No reason to be envious yet, Amy. Just because Diana is going to try to get us tickets doesn’t mean that it’ll happen. But still — I am rather ‘thused. And if I do get to see it in advance, I plan to post spoilers/lies in my blog. Kinda like that “2 truths and a lie” ice breaker. Except I’m not going to tell you how many are true and how many are lies.
Or would people like you try to hurt me if I gave away anything? Even if I confused you enough about which were true? =shrugs= Let me know.
